However, you do not need a saltwater fishing license if saltwater fishing from a for-hire vessel (guide, charter, party boat) that has a valid charter license or from a vessel whose operator has a valid recreational saltwater vessel license issued in the name of the operator of the vessel. Depending on the season and waterbody, you can catch peacock bass, largemouth bass, snook, tarpon, jack crevalle, and even exotic species like Mayan cichlid. Peacock bass are a major highlight and are found in some of the best canal systems in Miami.


When is the best time to go fishing in Miami?

Fishing in Miami is productive year-round, but peak times depend on the species. For peacock bass, warmer months (spring through early fall) provide the most action. Tarpon and snook are more active during the spring and summer tides.
